The Environmental centre of education in Pramanta was founded by the Ministerial Act R.N. 66659(Γ 7/03.07.2006). It opened in September 2007. It is co-funded by the European Union and the Greek government. In its first operational year (school year 2007-2008) the finances of the European funds were managed by the City of Pramanta. The financial management has passed to the National Youth Foundation since September 2008.
It is housed in the renovated premises of the local high –school which was offered by the city of Pramanta for this reason.
The teachers who work in the centre come from both primary and secondary education and they design, materialize and schedule the centre’s activities.
It designs and materializes environmental education programs.
It participates in the national theme network titled: "Traditional buildings and nature".
It organizes and produces education seminars for teachers.
It produces educational material in order to support the teaching work at schools.
It supports and promotes environmental education programs in the schools that belong to its jurisdiction.
